MDP-2025 is the master plan currently governing land use in the Jaipur region. It was approved at JDA's 60th authority meeting on 5 September 2011 and came into force the next day. It divides the region into urban, transit corridor, ecological and rural zones.

Key highlights

  • Planned for a population of about 64.95 lakh by 2025, with a workforce of about 22.75 lakh.
  • U1 is the core urban area, including Jaipur and its satellite towns. U2 surrounds it for further growth and special projects.
  • U3 is the transit corridor zone along highways, the ring road and industrial corridors.
  • G1 protects rivers, waterbodies, forests and hills. G2 is a buffer around them, where building is restricted.
  • Heritage zone plans for the walled city, covering conservation, decongestion and heritage tourism.
